3. Miami Hurricanes

Miami is back. I know their fans were on my back pretty tough when I said that Toledo would beat them early in the year. Hey, Miami fans, I was wrong even if the Hurricanes don’t make the playoff, I can’t knock that they are a legit program again and they are trying to erase the past few years.

They handled Virginia Tech in Week 10. That game didn’t make me a believer, but the way they did No. 3 Notre Dame in Week 11 makes me want to buy some stock the green and orange. They hammered Notre Dame 41-8 and caused four turnovers — the Turnover Chain might be the best thing in college football right now it has a positive energy around it and proves that swagger of the former “U” teams that used to hold it down in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.

No Mark Walton, no problem. Sophomore running back Travis Homer is making a name for himself on a weekly basis. He ran for 146 yards on 18 carries against a stout Notre Dame defense. The passing game leaves a little more to be desired, but when all of the other phases of the game are rolling like that, it will be hard to beat Miami.

I can’t wait to see Miami/Clemson in the ACC Championship game with the winner more than likely heading to the College Football Playoff.
