Yes, the Trojans were embarrassed by Notre Dame just a few weeks ago, but if you put them on the same field right now, the result might be completely different.

With the CFP rankings the way they are, taking that into consideration should be very important.

Since that 49-14 loss to the Irish, Southern Cal has stomped Arizona State, clipped Arizona and took out the defending Pac-12 runners-up in Colorado.

USC, which was possibly the hottest team in the country last year over the final two months, can close out strong with a win over UCLA before moving into the PAC-12 Championship in December.

Sam Darnold is playing lights-out, Ronald Jones II is running over everybody and the defense is looking like the USC of old once more.
