For any given college football team, there’s no new more devastating than finding out you must continue on without your starting quarterback.

For Boston College, that is what the rest of this season holds, as Anthony Brown has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Brown was forced out of a 17-14 loss to NC State that dropped the Eagles to 5-5 on the season. Boston College will turn to Darius Wade as they take on Connecticut this Saturday. A freshman, Brown’s season comes to an end with 1,367 yards passing and 11 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, over in Ames, Iowa State found out that starter Kyle Kempt will not require surgery. Kempt was forced out this past Saturday in a loss to Oklahoma State.

Zeb Noland stepped in when Kempt went down, but the freshman threw a game-ending interception in the end zone as the Cyclones were looking to tie it.

Kempt, who replaced Jacob Park and led Iowa State to wins over Oklahoma and TCU, has thrown for 1,209 yards and 11 touchdowns this year.

Wyoming’s Josh Allen missed much of a win over Air Force, but his own mother has updated us die-hard football fans on his status for the remainder of the year.

Allen completed 8-of-11 passes for 70 yards and a score before leaving against Air Force. The projected first round NFL draft pick has 1,658 yards and 13 passing scores this season.

And it’s not all bad news, as Michigan’s Wilton Speight is rumored to be ready to return from a serious back injury.

Speight, who threw for over 2,500 yards and 18 scores last year, was injured in late September vs. Purdue. He had thrown for 581 yards and three touchdowns before going down.

His replacement, John O’Korn, was injured two weeks ago and the Wolverines turned to sophomore Brandon Peters, who has directed back-to-back wins over Minnesota and Maryland.
