Texas A&M Football: 5 coaches who aren’t the answer for the Aggies
Tennessee is on hot pursuit of current Monday Night Football broadcaster and QB Camp host Jon Gruden. As it seems like he’s got it made now, Gruden might not leave the retired world of football coaching unless the absolute perfect opportunity arises.
Gruden did seem to like the competitiveness of former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel before the 2014 NFL Draft. Yet, Manziel did not do much in the NFL, and Gruden does not carry much of any relationship with the Texas A&M football program.
While Gruden is the favorite to end up as the new head coach in Knoxville, he did come out and say he has no interest in that position on Nov. 14, according to SEC Country. If he has not interest in working with the Vols, the team he started his coaching career with back in 1986, the Aggies have very little chance to land him.
The chances of the Aggies luring any coach out of the NFL ranks, whether it be broadcasting or an actual head coach at that level, are slim. It’s fun to speculate about it, but there’s a much better chance that Sumlin stays in College Station as a whole.
