Texas A&M Football: 5 coaches who aren’t the answer for the Aggies
Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is one of the most underrated in the entire country. He is an SEC coach through and through. Since 2005, Mullen has been coaching in the SEC, including the time spent with Mississippi State and Florida.
However, Mullen seems content in Starkville and he’s being heavily pursued by some other big programs as well. While the chances that the Aggies land Mullen are likely greater than getting Gruden or Kelly, they’re still very slim.
One huge reason why Mullen would not take over in College Station is because he will not stay in the SEC West if he leaves the Bulldogs. Iowa State’s Matt Campbell would not stay in the Big 12 and UCF’s Scott Frost would not stay in the AAC if they left.
Mississippi State had quite a few better finishes than the Aggies of late. Mullen created a much more successful team in Starkville than Sumlin has with the Aggies. That does not bode well for Texas A&M’s chances of landing someone like Mullen.
