Texas A&M football got back in the win column on Saturday after dominating New Mexico. Here are the guys who earned game balls in the win.
The Aggies have struggled once again in the second half of the season, falling to Mississippi State and Auburn. However, they turned it around at least for the moment against New Mexico with a 55-14 win.
Here’s who earned game balls against New Mexico.
Many guys stood out, but no one more so than starting quarterback Nick Starkel who reaffirmed his starting spot against the Lobos.
Starkel found Christian Kirk less than 30 seconds into the game to open the scoring for the Aggies. Overall, he finished with over 400 yards passing and four touchdowns in the one half of play he had. One half. The only other freshman quarterback to do that for the Aggies was Johnny Manziel against Arkansas when he threw for 453 and that took four quarters.

For Kellen Mond, this is less than exciting as it almost guarantees that he has lost his starting spot. In his two starts, each lasting about one half of a game, A&M has scored a combined 86 first half points. That is 38 against UCLA and 48 against New Mexico. Those are pretty promising numbers for a young team.
Starkel earns my first helmet sticker of Week 11 and the starting job in 2018.
