If West Virginia football gets to the 10-win mark again, it would be largely thanks to a talented receiver in David Sills V.

West Virginia football could be on pace for its second consecutive 10-win season under head coach Dana Holgorsen. Two players that played a big part in West Virginia’s success so far this season are sophomore quarterback Will Grier and junior wide receiver David Sills V.

There’s a large chance that Sills V finishes the season leading the nation in touchdown receptions since he has 18 so far. SMU’s Courtland Sutton and Memphis’s Anthony Miller follow him with 11 each. It’s not even close in the race for the title of most receiving touchdowns right now.

Having a quarterback like Grier tossing him the ball allowed Sills V to develop chemistry with one of the best at that position in the Big 12. Considering this conference features quarterbacks like Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph, that is a big compliment.

Sills V also has a lot of competition for looks within his own receiving corps. The Mountaineers feature other receivers like Ka’Raun White, Gary Jennings, and Marcus Simms. Sills V is actually second on the team in receptions, third in receiving yards, and third in yards per reception (among players with more than one catch).

Moreover, Sills V is easily on pace to finish the season with more receiving touchdowns than any player since former Fresno State star and current Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. Even Adams’ mark of 24 touchdowns back in 2013 is attainable for Sills V with three games likely remaining on the 2017 slate.

Here are three reasons why David Sills V of the West Virginia Mountaineers is the best receiver in the nation.
