Georgia football looked to bounce back from a tough loss to Auburn last week and here’s what we learned from the Bulldogs’ win over Kentucky.

After getting thrashed by Auburn a week ago, Georgia football got back on track with a nice win over a 7-3 Kentucky team on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs looked more like that No. 1 team from a couple of weeks ago rather than the one that lost by three scores in Week 11.

The Bulldogs improved to 10-1 on the season and by already having locked up the SEC East, they can focus on preparing for a rematch with Auburn or a matchup with Alabama in the conference title game. Georgia Tech is the final roadblock for the Bulldogs, but the SEC title game is looking more and more like a playoff play-in by the week.

Kentucky didn’t stand much of a chance against the Bulldogs on Saturday, losing 42-14. This was a good win for Kirby Smart and Co., though, to show that spirits are not broken in Athens.

Here’s what we learned from Georgia’s blowout win over Kentucky.

3. Defense is back on track

After getting smacked by Auburn last week, it didn’t take long for the Georgia Bulldogs to get back on track defensively, holding Kentucky to 262 total yards.

Although Kentucky isn’t exactly what you’d call an offensive juggernaut, the Wildcats do have a pulse this season compared to other years. It’s telling that a team can come off a demoralizing loss, and defensive meltdown, to stomp a seven-win team at home like it did.

The Bulldogs forced a turnover and completely shut down the Kentucky attack after the first quarter. Kentucky kept it close after 15 minutes, but the Bulldogs turned it on defensively and didn’t show any mercy.

This is good news for Georgia and Kirby Smart, realizing that last week’s blowout loss was basically an anomaly. The Bulldogs will look to stop the Georgia Tech run game next week to finish the season strong.
