Miami football had to come back to beat Virginia 44-28 to remain undefeated in Week 12. Here are my three takeaways from the matchup.

The Miami Hurricanes came into Week 12 with a 9-0 record and left still undefeated. The ‘Canes were ranked ninth overall by Bill C’s S&P+ rankings while UVA was ranked 67th with its 6-4 overall record.

Virginia jumped out to to a 14-0 lead and Kurt Benkert looked like a million dollar baby quarterback fighting for an NFL career and upset of Miami in Miami Gardens, Fla. Instead, his pick-six throw to Jaquaon Johnson ended UVA’s hopes of upsetting Miami.

The ‘Canes have had a number of close wins including Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina throughout the 2017 season heading into their showdown with the Clemson Tigers in the ACC Championship Game. But before they can take on Clemson, they had to defeat Virginia and now the Pitt Panthers on Thanksgiving Friday. Black Friday will be fire as the ‘Canes take on Pitt at Heinz Field.

Heading into the game, Miami’s stars were Malik Rosier and Travis Homer. The two ‘Canes totaled four touchdowns. Rosier threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns and Homer picked up 95 yards on 5.6 per carry and a touchdown in the Miami victory.
