2. Bryce Love’s Heisman hopes are still alive

Although many, including myself, believe that Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield has locked up the 2017 Heisman Trophy, Stanford running back Bryce Love is still firmly planted in the race.

There are few players in college football who can truly say they’re in the race for the Heisman Trophy, but Love has played well enough all year to be considered come mid-December. The junior running back will likely be one of two backs invited, assuming Saquon Barkley gets an invite, but he has to be considered the nation’s top rusher this year.

Love has been averaging nearly a first down per carry this season and although he didn’t have his best game against the Cal Golden Bears, he still has to be considered one of the top three contenders for the coveted award.

Stanford’s workhorse back carried the ball 14 times for 101 yards and a touchdown in Saturday evening’s win over Cal. Don’t worry, Cardinal fans, Love’s Heisman hopes are still alive.
