1. Brett Rypien and the passing attack are heating up at the right time

Earlier this season, there were questions about whether Brett Rypien was regressing in his third year as the starting quarterback for Boise State. The coaching staff had brought in graduate transfer Montell Cozart, and there was plenty of talk about whether the former Kansas quarterback should take over Rypien’s job.

In the past few weeks, though, Rypien has laid all those questions to rest. Last week in the comeback win over Colorado State in overtime, Rypien had his first 300-yard game of the season. He followed it up with another huge performance in victory over Air Force.

The Falcons gave up 300 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-22 passing from Rypien. It was by far the veteran quarterback’s most efficient game of the 2017 season, and the sixth time in his career that he posted an efficiency rating over 200. While Cozart has also continued to contribute, Rypien is once again the undisputed leader of the Broncos offense.

He has developed a great rapport by November with a relatively new corps of receivers. Both A.J. Richardson and Cedrick Wilson finished the night with over 100 receiving yards against Air Force, and Sean Modster and Octavius Evans each contributed a touchdown catch. With the passing attack flying on all cylinders once again, Boise State is once again the favorite in the Mountain West and a Group of Five powerhouse.
