4. Craig Bohl

Craig Bohl is not a west coast guy but his record of success is evident and that should be a draw to the UCLA Bruins administration. Bohl has won and has won the right way while at North Dakota State and now in his turnaround of the Wyoming Cowboys. He was the head coach of the NDSU Bison when they won back-to-back-to-back FCS National Championships from 2011-2013 (and he wasn’t even sponsored by Fred McGriff).

Bohl has since turned Wyoming into an eight game winner and a bowl participant. The Cowboys haven’t exactly had a lot of football success prior to Bohl, only having been to three other bowls since the 90’s.

Craig Bohl knows how to recruit California as his Wyoming teams have had a good amount of California talent on them. His NDSU title teams were nationally recruited, loading up the roster with players from Florida all the way to Minnesota and down to the Southern California area and everywhere in between. Bohl could find a way to win at UCLA since that’s what he has done as a head football coach at every stop he’s been to.

Bohl lacks direct connections in California. He hasn’t coached in California, in fact he hasn’t coached in any major conference. The pressure of being a Pac-12 head football coach and one in Los Angeles might be too big of a jump for the UCLA administrators to fathom.
