If Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard does not go with an offensive lineman in the first round, there is something wrong. The Colts have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, and it’s been that way for a while.

Whether the Colts decide to go with Notre Dame offensive guard Quenton Nelson, offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey, or Texas offensive tackle Connor Williams, the line needs to be upgraded. There’s other areas to build upon but none more important than the offensive line.

Notre Dame has one of the best ground games in the country, led by quarterback Brandon Wimbush and running back Josh Adams. If not for offensive lineman like McGlinchey and Nelson opening enormous holes up to run through, Wimbush and Adams would not be having the same type of production.

If franchise quarterback Andrew Luck wants any chance to have a successful career moving forward, he’ll need an offensive line to protect him. Even Jacoby Brissett is getting hit all the time trying to keep plays alive.
