College Football Playoff 2017: Projected Top 4 for Week 13
By Jesse Smith
With rivalry week looming the College Football Playoff field continues to narrow. Here’s what the top four should look like after Week 12.
With conference championship games right around the corner Week 12 was pretty stable. Only one of the current Top 4 teams had a slight scare and that was Miami against Virginia, but once the Hurricanes woke up it was all she wrote.
Teams on the outside looking in did what they were supposed to do to stay in the mix. I’m looking at you Wisconsin, Auburn, Ohio State, Georgia and USC.
Check out how the Top 4 should be ranked come Tuesday night.
4. Clemson
Clemson pulled “The Alabama” with the random cupcake close to the end of the year that isn’t in their conference. After struggling against Florida State a week ago, the Citadel was a perfect confidence match for the Tigers, but it doesn’t do much to change where we have them ranked of course they were supposed to beat up on them and they did that, but no brownie points were scored for them during Week 12. Clemson beat them down 61-3.
Clemson had 662 total yards and only allowed 216 total yards during the matchup. The good thing for the Tigers is they got to give three quarterbacks live action during Week 12. All three threw for over 100 yards no matter the competition that is a pretty impressive stat in my humble opinion. (Kelly Bryant 230, Hunter Johnson 144 and Zerrick Cooper 105)
Clemson has the AAC Atlantic division locked up so in two weeks a Miami/Clemson game will possibly be for all the College Football Playoff marbles, but they can’t look past South Carolina during Week 13 that is a huge rivalry game in the state of South Carolina.
