College Football Playoff 2017: Projected Top 4 for Week 13
By Jesse Smith
3. Alabama
Alabama pummeled Mercer 56-0 as expected. If you follow Alabama you know this is their annual cupcake game before the renowned Iron Bowl rivalry game against Auburn. Auburn is a dangerous team they knocked off previously undefeated Georgia. Next week will be their biggest challenge of the season going on the road to take on No. 6 Auburn in the Iron Bowl. That game will be the game of the week.
The Tide dominated during Week 12, the offense had 530 total yards and they had a balanced attack all afternoon with 265 yards passing and 265 yards rushing. The heavy hitters like quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receiver Calvin Ridley didn’t play much Week 12, but during limited action they lit Mercer up. Hurts went 7-for-7 passing for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Ridley had three catches for 103 yards and one touchdown with a long of 66 yards.
The defense held Mercer to 161 total yards in a dominate showing after letting Mississippi State run all over them the previous week. Freshman linebacker Dylan Moses had a great game with 11 tackles (four tackles for loss).
Only thing that matter right now to Alabama is Auburn.
