Ole Miss football travels to face the Bulldogs in the 2017 edition of the Egg Bowl rivalry. The game is always intense but this year feels different for both teams. Here are five reasons why Ole Miss can win this game.

The 2017 season has been a long one for the Rebels. It was a seemingly never-ending freight train that continued to just derail even as far back as spring practice for the Rebels. The season included the presentation of a second notice of allegations, the resignation of Hugh Freeze and an embattled 2017 campaign in which the Rebels administration deemed itself ineligible for a bowl game. It all comes to a head with the Egg Bowl for this program.

Throughout the NCAA investigation Mississippi State has had a noteworthy presence. Whether that dealt with testimony from their current players about Ole Miss recruiting actions through immunity from NCAA investigators or some of their own journalists covering the entirety of the investigation. This game has taken on a new level of hate for both fan bases and teams. The Ole Miss players are aware of the contents of the investigation as are MSU players. The build up to this game presents us with the take that it could get ugly on the field and in the stands.

At the end of the day there is still a game to be played and the Bulldogs are the favorites. But there is a reason the games aren’t played on paper. So I’m here to present you, the reader, with five reasons the Rebels can win this game. We kick off our list with the Rebel offense.
