Texas football caps of their 2017 season with a home game against Texas Tech in Week 13. Here’s everything you need to know.

Finally bowl eligible, the Texas Longhorns have one more chance to make a positive mark on the 2017 season. The expectations at Texas are much higher than 6-5, but a win over Texas Tech in Week 13 combined with a bowl victory could give Texas an eight win season. That’s not where they want to be, but it’s a significant step upward from where they were.

Texas Tech, once ranked inside the top 25, needs a win over Texas to gain bowl eligibility for themselves. Kliff Kingsbury entered the year on the hot seat and the up and down performances from his team this year have done nothing to make decision makers in Lubbock any more confident.

Here’s how you can watch Friday’s game between Texas and Texas Tech:

Date: Friday, Nov. 24
Time: 8:00 p.m. ET
Location: Austin, Tx
Venue: Darrell K Royal Stadium
TV: FOX
Live Stream:  FOX Sports Go

Keys to Victory

The Red Raiders have done their damage through the air thanks to Bednarik finalist Keke Coutee and gunslinging quarterback Nic Shimonek. The defense is surrendering 32.5 points per game, so if they can’t find a way to get Coutee the ball it’s going to be game over rather quick for the red and black.

Moving the ball is going to be difficult to do against the Texas defense. The Longhorns have allowed 356 total yards per game in conference play, second best in the Big 12 to TCU. The defense has carried this team as the offense alternated quarterbacks and struggled to consistently run the football.

That’s the matchup that will determine this game. If the Texas defense can shut down the Texas Tech offense the Longhorns will have more than enough umph on their side of the ball to get enough points to take the game.

Prediction

Texas has fared significantly better in conference play, but these teams are separated by just one game when you stack their records up side by side. The Longhorns will pull this one out, but it might be a bit closer than expected.

Final Score: Texas 31, Texas Tech 23
