3. Derek Mason, Vanderbilt

Last week I mentioned that Mason could boost the morale in Nashville by winning his last two games to become bowl eligible. Well, those dreams for the Vanderbilt faithful were washed away in the Commodores by Mizzou in their 45-17 loss at home to the Tigers. Mason is now feeling the heat as the Tennessee media no longer has Butch Jones to pick on and Mason’s production is waning.

Speaking of Tennessee however, the Commodores close the season with their annual match-up with their rivals from Knoxville. The Volunteers are coming off a thorough waxing at the hands of LSU but are sure to be fired up playing their “little brothers” in their friendly confines of Neyland Stadium. If Mason and crew can escape Knoxville with a victory, it just may be enough to keep his job for another season.
