Even though Ole Miss has commanded this rivalry in its 116 year history. However, the Egg Bowl has been pretty even of late. However, current LSU head coach Ed Orgeron once coached in Oxford and 2007 was his final year before Houston Nutt came in.

Orgeron and the Rebels held the Bulldogs in check for most of the game, until Mississippi State made a 17-point run to finish things off. That loss for the Rebels capped a string of disappointing seasons with Orgeron at the helm.

He finished with three wins in the SEC over a three year span. Yet, one of those three wins did come against the Bulldogs in 2006. It’s one of his most memorable games during his three year tenure in Oxford.

All of the struggles that Ole Miss had in 2007 did not translate over to the Bulldogs. Mississippi State took this result and ran with an eight win season. The Bulldogs were a much better team than the Rebels in 2007, but the Egg Bowl is one of those that will always be hotly contested.
