News out of Fort Worth today was all positive as TCU football beat Baylor and then Gary Patterson was given an extension.

No. 12 TCU beat Baylor 45-22 during their Week 13 matchup and soon after signing themselves up with a matchup versus Oklahoma they broke the news that head coach Gary Patterson has signed an extension through 2024.

Patterson has TCU with a current record of 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the Big 12 (second in the conference). His record at TCU is 214-158 overall when you dig deeper since being added to the Big 12 in 2012 Patterson has led TCU to a 50-26 overall. His record since joining the Big 12 is nothing to sneeze considering the consistent jump in competition and knowing Patterson has been one of the hottest coaches on the scene.

He has been at TCU for 17 years and it seems he will be at the program for at least seven more years unless something drastic happens. Programs that are looking for a big time coach are sad about this breaking news, but from recent history what did you expect Patterson to do? He seems very comfortable at his current location.

TCU will continue to be a gold standard in the Big 12 as long as they keep Patterson. We don’t know the terms of the extension, but I’m pretty sure is a lucrative deal and it has a nice size buyout if other big school try to pry Patterson away.

I’m pretty sure Horned Frog fans are jumping for joy as they read this news.
