No. 1 Alabama visits No. 6 Auburn. There isn’t a bigger game than this in Week 13 and it might have more College Football Playoff implications than any game all season. The eyes of the nation will be on the SEC come Saturday afternoon.

This is not Alabama’s first appearance on GameDay this season. They opened the year with a neutral site contest against Florida State, which they won handily. Since then show has been everywhere else but back to SEC country. College GameDay visited New York in Week 4 and FCS James Madison in Week 7. Now they’ve finally set up shop at an SEC home stadium for the first time all season.

As happens every week Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso will have another person joining them at the table. The Week 12 College Gameday guest picker is NBA star Charles Barkley.

This is Barkley’s third appearance on the show. Each of the previous times he picked Auburn to win (over Tennessee in 2004 and over Alabama in 2013) and he was right. Will that carry over into this season?

Barkley joins an impressive list of names that have appeared on the show this season:

  • Sam Hunt – Week 1
  • Eddie George – Week 2
  • Rick Pitino – Week 3
  • Keegan-Michael Key – Week 4
  • Bruce Smith – Week 5
  • Tim McGraw – Week 6
  • James Madison – Week 7
  • Ki-Jana Carter – Week 8
  • Jack Nicklaus – Week 9
  • Thurman Thomas – Week 10
  • Alex Rodriguez – Week 11
  • Craig T. Nelson – Week 12

So far the best picking performance came from Tim McGraw who correctly predicted nine games. That’s going to be tough for Barkley to match, especially on Rivalry Weekend. It’s time to throw at the records and pick with your gut. Buckle up college football fans, we’re in for a good one.
