Everyone expected Oklahoma State football to beat Kansas in Week 13, but Mason Rudolph made his case for a first-round selection in the NFL draft.

A week after losing a tough home game to Kansas State, Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State football had no problem dismantling another team from Kansas: the Jayhawks. While clearly not known for their football program, the Jayhawks were taken to the woodshed by the Cowboys — more specifically, Rudolph.

The senior gunslinger went out in his home finale with style and potentially locked up a first-round NFL draft selection with his play. There has been talk that he’s not worth an early pick, but he squashed that thinking against the Jayhawks.

Rudolph seemingly did whatever he wanted against Kansas, passing for 494 yards and two touchdowns on 32-of-44 completions. He looked like the Heisman candidate everyone expected before the season and really responded to a tough loss to the Wildcats the week before.

Not only did his effectiveness through the air prove he’s worthy of a top draft but also his resilience after taking a tough loss the week before against the Wildcats. Most quarterbacks would have mailed it in and looked ahead to a bowl game or the draft process, but not Rudolph.

The senior quarterback finished the season with over 4,500 yards and 35 touchdowns with only nine interceptions. He looked like one of the most accurate passers and his strong arm was featured week in and week out. NFL teams looking for a franchise quarterback will have to take a close look at Rudolph.
