Defeating the LSU Tigers doesn’t look like it will save Texas A&M football head coach Kevin Sumlin‘s job. Who will take over after he’s gone?

Texas A&M football is looking to move past the Kevin Sumlin-era after the Week 13 matchup with the No. 18 ranked LSU Tigers, according to the Houston Chronicle. The Aggies head coach has been on the hot seat since the season opening collapse against the UCLA Bruins. Even UCLA brought in a new head coach on Nov. 25 in Chip Kelly.

Sumlin could save his job for a little while longer with a spirited win over LSU this weekend, but it’s not likely. It would take a convincing victory for Texas A&M to likely even consider keeping Sumlin on board with all the rumors swirling.

The Aggies should put forward a great effort to at least play their best for their head coach. Texas A&M already locked up bowl eligibility with a 7-4 (4-3 SEC) record. Two more wins to finish off the 2017 campaign would actually be the best finish for the Aggies since Johnny Manziel‘s final year with the program in 2013.

With a win over the Ole Miss Rebels in Week 12, the Aggies have won two straight. Yet, that other victory came against the New Mexico Lobos and does not give Sumlin much credibility. A win in rivalry week is the only thing that could boost Sumlin’s stock right now.

After straight seasons with no more than eight wins, this fan base is getting impatient with the consistent results of just slightly above mediocrity. Texas A&M does have the resources to throw a lot of money at a high-profile coach also.

Here’s five coaching options for the Texas A&M Aggies after the Kevin Sumlin-era is over in College Station.
