After an up-and-down season, LSU got to nine wins after an emphatic 45-21 victory in their SEC regular-season finale against Texas A&M. The Tigers finished the day with over 600 yards of offense, dominating the Aggies on both sides of the ball. They put more than twice as many points on the scoreboard in what might be Kevin Sumlin‘s final game coaching Texas A&M.
Danny Etling had a huge game, throwing for 347 yards and three scores on 19-of-30 passing. Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams each ran for over 100 yards. Guice led the way with 127 yards and a score, while Williams chipped in 106 yards and a touchdown of his own. The Bayou Bengals defense held A&M under 300 total yards of offense, as the Aggies managed just 55 rushing yards of their own.
Thanks to the big performance in the finale, LSU will climb a few spots in the College Football Playoff rankings when they come out again on Tuesday. Depending on what transpires in the SEC championship game between Auburn and Georgia, the Tigers could potentially even be in line for a New Year’s Six bowl bid.
