Auburn football put the college football world on notice with an SEC West clinching victory over Alabama. Did they do enough to make the playoff?

Very few people had the Auburn Tigers upsetting Alabama for the SEC West crown on Saturday afternoon. However, here we are preparing for an Auburn vs. Georgia SEC Championship next week. Has Auburn proved they are playoff contenders? Will the loss to LSU keep them out? We will all have to wait and see.

Until then, however, let’s talk Iron Bowl. Here are my five overreactions from what was easily the game of the week.

5. The Auburn Tigers are better than we thought

After their loss to LSU, many people wrote off the Tigers. Then they beat Georgia soundly and the conversation changed. However, very few thought that they would be headed to the SEC Championship at the end of the regular season, but here we are. Auburn is an SEC powerhouse and that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon. This team is strong and they are for real.

On Saturday afternoon, they proved themselves to be balanced and ready to take on the likes of anyone. They are going to need to continue that as they fight for a spot in the playoff during championship week, but as of right now this is a team that is ready for the big stage and will be on one of the biggest for the SEC title game in Atlanta.
