The firing of Texas A&M football head coach Kevin Sumlin opens the door for Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher to find a new coaching opportunity.
Texas A&M football is under the microscope right now with the firing of head coach Kevin Sumlin on Nov. 26. The Aggies now need to find a head coach after Sumlin’s six years in College Station came to a conclusion before the bowl game.
It was reported that Sumlin would be fired after the conclusion of Texas A&M’s contest with the LSU Tigers. Yet, rumors were swirling today that Sumlin would take over for the Arizona State Sun Devils after the firing of Todd Graham in Tempe. Yet, those rumors proved to be false.
With Sumlin out at Texas A&M, the Aggies had to officially start the coaching search. That search on the coaching market starts with Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher who is having a rough year in Tallahassee. The prospect of Fisher becoming the head coach of the Aggies is very intriguing.
Some sources reported that a deal is in place for Fisher to join the Aggies, for five years and at least $7.5 million per year. If the rumors of that deal are true, it will be reported on the morning of Nov. 27. That would be a huge land for the Aggies so soon after the firing of Sumlin.
There’s a few other coaching candidates that the Aggies would be fortunate to get. One of those candidates was scooped up off the market already with the Florida Gators landing Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen. The Aggies were also rumored to be after Mullen.
Here’s three reasons Jimbo Fisher is a great fit with the Texas A&M Aggies as head coach.
