Texas A&M football has parted ways with head coach Kevin Sumlin after six years with the program. What legacy does he leave?

Texas A&M football is rounding out its regular season with a Nov. 25 battle with the LSU Tigers in the biggest rivalry game of the year for the Aggies. Rumors were swirling about the potential firing of head coach Kevin Sumlin after the LSU game, no matter what the result.

If Sumlin was able to pull off the upset in Week 13, he might have been able to pull off a Les Miles sort of stay for a while longer in College Station. Miles was able to save his job at LSU for a few games before being let go for current head coach Ed Orgeron last year.

Yet, Sumlin was let go after the loss to LSU and rumors started going around that he was hired by the Arizona State Sun Devils later that same day. However, that turned out to be a false rumor at first, since Sumlin was not officially fired until the afternoon even though reports had come out about him being let go after the LSU loss.

While Arizona State is still looking for a new head coach after firing Todd Graham, Texas A&M is also officially starting the coaching search of their own. Rumor has it that Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher is likely to take over for the Aggies. According to SEC Country, Fisher could be getting very close to an intriguing deal with Texas A&M. Nothing is official yet, though.

Here’s a look back at the legacy of Kevin Sumlin during his tenure with the Texas A&M Aggies.
