Kevin Sumlin has been fired and speculation around Texas A&M football is through the roof. Should Jimbo Fisher make the move from Florida State to Aggieland?
On Sunday, Texas A&M cut ties with six-year head coach Kevin Sumlin. The roller coaster of emotions that comes with Aggie Football kicked Sumlin out the door. Was this the right decision? Who will replace him?
The biggest name currently swirling around Texas A&M is Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher. Should he take the leap and move from Tallahassee to Aggieland? I think so. Here are my five reasons he should comes to Texas A&M.
5. Fisher’s relationship with AD Scott Woodward
In the early 2000’s, Jimbo Fisher spent six years at LSU working as the quarterback coach and offensive coordinator for the Tigers. While he was there, now Texas A&M Athletic Director Scott Woodward was working as the LSU Director of External Affairs. That relationship already existing is a huge plus for Jimbo Fisher as he would be able to get to work on the changes he wants made pretty quickly in Aggieland.
Fisher has been arguing for an upgrade to Florida State’s football facilities for quite a while to seemingly no avail within the Athletic Department. The relationship he has with Scott Woodward could easily be a big check in the positive column when it comes to make a decision due to that ongoing argument with the Florida State administration.
