Rumors are swirling regarding Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher potentially taking the job with Texas A&M football. Here’s why that won’t happen.

What a week it’s been for Texas A&M football fans. First, they heard the news that Kevin Sumlin would be relieved of his head coaching duties after the LSU game. Then they watched LSU stomp the Aggies and the athletic department waited to make the firing official on Sunday.

While this was all happening, rumors of Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher taking the job in College Station were picking up steam. Some Texas A&M insiders were calling it a “done deal” and saying that the news would be made public any day.

However, nothing has come of those rumors yet. Fisher is still the head coach at Florida State and the Seminoles believe he won’t be going anywhere. Texas A&M fans have been on edge all week, and for good reason. Unfortunately, they should tun their attention elsewhere.

Here’s why Texas A&M fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about Fisher.

5. Aggies’ edge in facilities won’t last long

One of the biggest draws to being the head coach of the Aggies is the fact that Texas A&M has elite facilities which is great for practice, conditioning as well as recruiting. When prospects come in and see that Texas A&M is willing to spend a ton of money on its football program, they are drawn to commit.

Kevin Sumlin did a heck of a job using that to his advantage when he was the head coach, but those top recruits could never bring those conference titles. You can be a world-class recruiter, but in order to succeed in college football, you must be able to coach them up, too.

Luckily Fisher doesn’t have to worry about either as he’s a great recruiter and coach, and just imagine what he could do with Texas A&M’s facilities to brag about to prospects. However, that won’t last for long as top programs such as Florida State are always making upgrades.

Texas A&M might have the slight facility advantage right now, but everyone, including Fisher, knows that it won’t be long-lasting. Florida State will eventually catch up.
