3. Boise State runs up the score

These teams are very similar, statistically speaking, in many facets of the game. However, despite averaging a difference of only nine yards per game, Boise does a much better job of capitalizing, turning those yards into an average of 33.3 points per game compared to Fresno’s 27.8 average.

Vegas gives the game a nine point spread in favor of Boise State, but the Broncos could greatly exceed that number with a few breaks and solid quarterback play. Both Boise quarterbacks have done a good job at taking care of the football this season, with Brett Rypien and Montell Cozart combining for only five interceptions on the year.

Boise has boasted a very balanced offense throughout the season, averaging over 254 passing yards to just under 150 rushing yards per game. Again, while the yardage they accumulate isn’t anything to write home about, they are extremely efficient at turning those yards into points.

The Broncos, unlike many teams in college football, have established their number one rusher in Alexander Mattison. Only two players behind Mattison have rushed for over 100 yards on the season, one being backup running back Ryan Wolpin and the other being Cozart. It could be a long day for defensive coordinator Orlando Steinauer.
