Tennessee Football: 5 realistic coaching options for the Vols
5. Eli Manning
Eli Manning was informed during the week that he would no longer be the starting quarterback of the New York Giants. Remember when Manning’s football career didn’t start out how he’d hoped? He moved across the country. Manning was originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers but was exchanged on a draft day trade to send the passer to New York.
Now on the back side of his career it’s time to make another scenery swap. His brother Peyton has already been working the phones trying to get the Vols next coach to Knoxville. I’m pretty sure he has his brother’s number hidden away somewhere. Manning is free on weekends now. What’s the point of showing up to practice if you’ve been benched in favor of Geno Smith?
There aren’t many people of the Vols’ coaching board that have Super Bowl Champion written next to their name. If Manning can do that twice and beat Bill Belichick and Tom Brady what’s to say he can’t make the College Football Playoff and take down the giant of college football, Nick Saban.
It’s never to early to start thinking about retirement and Manning is in the perfect position to make a career change.
