Improved team with the Allen brothers

The best years for the Hogs under Bielema came between 2014 and 2016 with sibling quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Austin Allen under center. Brandon’s first year as a starter in 2013 did not go as planned, but he was thrown into the fire anyways.

However, his final two years as a starter were much better. In Brandon’s first two years with Arkansas combined, he tossed 14 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. His final two years saw him toss 50 touchdowns to only 13 interceptions.

The improvement that both Brandon and the Hogs showed in 2014 was nearly unexpected. Arkansas nearly pulled off a massive upset against the Alabama Crimson Tide and actually did pull off a big upset against LSU.

Big wins over Ole Miss and the Texas Longhorns to round out 2014 resulted in heightened hype entering the 2015 campaign. Brandon did well that year as well, leading the Hogs to eight wins. Austin carried that success into 2016, but had a tougher time getting anything going this year.
