3. Shea Patterson will be throwing him the ball

The SEC does not have much returning at quarterback in 2018. Outside of Alabama’s Jalen Hurts, Georgia’s Jake Fromm, and Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald, you really have to dig deep to find some good quarterbacks coming back. It’s likely that Mizzou’s Drew Lock and Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham declare early for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Patterson is one of the highest-touted recruits in the history of Ole Miss football. On three separate occasions, Patterson tossed at least four touchdown passes in 2017. Before going down with a season-ending knee injury against the LSU Tigers, Patterson was on pace for a fantastic year.

Junior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu performed well in place of the injured Patterson. Ta’amu threw for 1,682 yards and 11 touchdowns in six starts. He led the Rebels to wins over in-state rival Mississippi State and the Kentucky Wildcats. Both Mississippi State and Kentucky are bowl teams.

Brown and Patterson got off to a torrid pace to start the season, and injuries to both players would derail that hot streak. They should pick right up where they left off to start the 2018 season.
