2. Enough talent in receiving corps to keep defenses honest

There’s no doubt that Brown was the top target for the Rebels this year. It would be unwise for an opponent to ignore that fact Brown is the best Ole Miss receiver and put anyone different than a top shutdown corner matchup up against him.

However, Ole Miss seems to consistently produce receivers each year now. Three other receivers should return next season: sophomore Van Jefferson, junior DaMarkus Lodge, and freshman D.K. Metcalf. Lodge and Metcalf both had well over 600 yards and seven touchdowns this year.

With those three receivers and Brown coming back to Oxford, it’s very possible that Ole Miss could have the best corps in the SEC West. However, the Alabama Crimson Tide return a talented group of receivers next season that could compete with Ole Miss.

Too much talent is at the skill positions for the Rebels for opposing defenses to try to shut down just one aspect of it. Brown will have his chance to find some room and take the top off of every secondary he’ll face in 2018.
