UCLA Football: 3 bowl game possibilities for the Bruins
By Zach Bigalke
With a win over Cal in their final regular season game, UCLA football became bowl eligible. Here are three possible destinations for the Bruins this postseason.
A disappointing 4-8 campaign in 2016 left UCLA out of a bowl game for the first time since 2010. They were forced to scramble this year, but the Bruins still managed to reach six wins. That means they will be back in the postseason.
Seniors like Darren Andrews, Scott Quessenberry, Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, and Jaleel Wadood will get to play one final game in blue and gold before moving on to the NFL or other careers. This might also be the last time we see upperclassmen like quarterback Josh Rosen in a UCLA uniform. And youngsters like Darnay Holmes, Marcus Moore, and Jordan Wilson will get a taste of bowl action in their first years as college stars.
But where might the Bruins end up this postseason? The Pac-12 has direct affiliations with six bowl games. With nine conference teams now bowl-eligible, though, that means some teams will likely slot in to fill spots in other games not normally played by the league’s members.
With the postseason right around the corner, now is the time to speculate where the Bruins might end up when the dust settles. Here are three destinations that might host UCLA in a bowl game this season.
