1. Clemson deserves their No. 1 ranking

People wrote Clemson off after they lost to Syracuse on the road. The Tigers had an odd loss last year as well, falling to Pitt away from home. That didn’t seem to matter when the chips were down and the College Football Playoff was underway.

It took Clemson a few weeks to ascended to the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. They debuted at No. 4 in the Week 9 ranks and were ranked behind several different teams before they nabbed the top spot last week. At one point this season Clemson was ranked behind Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia and Miami.

The Tigers dismantled the Hurricanes in the ACC Championship Game. Notre Dame fell way off the map after losses to Miami and Stanford. Both Georgia and Alabama have one loss, but each of those losses came at the hands of Auburn in the month of November.
