Oklahoma football pulled away for the Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Here are three things we learned from the Sooners’ big victory.

Earlier this season, Oklahoma overpowered TCU to take charge of the Big 12 race. The two teams met again at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday afternoon, and once again the Sooners left with a win.

The victory ensured that Lincoln Riley’s team will head to the College Football Playoff in his first season as a head coach. He took over at Oklahoma when Bob Stoops surprisingly stepped down in the offseason, and now the Sooners will be playing for a shot at the national title.

Unlike some of the other early contests on Saturday, this result never really felt in doubt. Oklahoma finished with 461 yards of offense against a Horned Frogs defense that was rated among the best in the nation during the regular season. Instead, it was the Sooners defense that came through dominantly in the title game win.

The 12-1 Sooners will be headed to either the Rose Bowl or the Sugar Bowl after their dominant win. What did we learn about Oklahoma from its Big 12 title victory? Here are three takeaways from the mismatch between the Sooners and the Horned Frogs at Jerry World.
