Ole Miss Football: 3 best potential transfer options for Shea Patterson
If Shea Patterson decides to transfer from Ole Miss football, some of the best programs in the country would go all out to land him.
Ole Miss football was hit with some potentially program crippling sanctions on Dec. 1. It could cause some of the top players for the Rebels to transfer out pretty soon. Yet, star sophomore wide receiver A.J. Brown already announced that he would stay in Oxford through the sanctions. The same might not be able to be said for sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson.
There are some restrictions as to where Patterson can transfer to. He won’t be able to play next year with any school that he decides to transfer to. Moreover, he would not be able to transfer to any program that is in the SEC, or on the Ole Miss schedule, for the next two years. That puts quite the strain on the ability of Patterson to make an immediate effect on the college football world anytime soon.
If Patterson and Brown stayed together with Ole Miss, it could have been the best quarterback-wide receiver duo in the nation. Yet, all would be for naught since the Rebels can’t even go to a bowl game anytime soon. The incoming talent would also be limited due to the scholarship sanctions.
Ole Miss has an uphill battle for head coach Matt Luke to face. It’s not going to be made any easier by the fact that 23 seniors on the roster could all transfer as well. Seniors don’t have the transfer restrictions that younger players like Brown and Patterson have.
According to 247Sports, Ole Miss is also granting Patterson permission to explore his transfer options. A potential list of schools he’s actually exploring could come out soon.
