2. Penn State

Patterson is likely to choose a destination where he can win immediately, and trust the stability of the coaching staff. The Penn State Nittany Lions seem to have established a foundation under head coach James Franklin that could last for a while.

Franklin proved that he could take a new quarterback and build a top 10 program around them. Trace McSorley took over for one of the most highly touted recruits in Penn State history in Christian Hackenberg and did a tremendous job.

Penn State should make a trip to its second consecutive New Year’s Six Bowl under the direction of McSorley. If the Nittany Lions would be anything like the offense looks now, Patterson would have a solid running back next to him in the backfield.

The under the radar option for Patterson should be a program like Penn State. He could compete on a national level from the first day he started behind center. Penn State also runs a similar offense to that of Ole Miss so it would be an easier transition.
