2. Alamo Bowl (Alamodome/San Antonio vs. Big 12)

Another opportunity to make a first appearance could come if the Cardinal land a spot in the Alamo Bowl. The game in San Antonio has been played since 1993, and rival Cal played in the first edition of the showdown. But it has only officially been affiliated with the Pac-12 since 2010, which means Stanford has had few opportunities to even be considered for the contest.

Stanford has never played at the Alamodome or in San Antonio, either in the bowl game or in a matchup against UTSA. They did play in Texas last year when they beat North Carolina 25-23 at the Sun Bowl, but it would hardly be unprecedented for a team to travel to the same state in two consecutive postseasons.

The Alamo Bowl has seen some solid contests between the Pac-12 and the Big 12 over the past seven years. Should they settle on Stanford this season, they would get an opportunity to showcase one of the preeminent powers from the west coast over the past decade. It is a no-brainer selection for the Alamo Bowl committee, and the Cardinal would be wise to jump at the opportunity to play in the multipurpose stadium for the first time in their history.
