Notre Dame was able to play the role of spoiler here. The Colorado Buffaloes were ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation prior to losing to the Irish in the 1990 Orange Bowl. Notre Dame did not take home the National Championship.

Yet, the loss for the Buffs allowed the Miami Hurricanes to finish with the No. 1 ranking and the National Championship. Since Notre Dame was the underdog in this matchup and ruined a perfect season for Colorado, this bowl game belongs on the list.

Legendary Notre Dame wide receiver Raghib Ismail led the way for the Irish, with a high scoring second half. Neither Colorado, nor Notre Dame put up any points in the first half. All 27 points were scored in the second half.

Colorado would get revenge on the Irish the following year, by squeaking out a one-point victory in the 1991 Orange Bowl. Buffs head coach Bill McCartney took home the only National Championship in Colorado football history in 1991.
