The Oregon football program finished the regular season 7-5 in Willie Taggart’s first year. Here are my takeaways from the 2017 season for the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks are sitting at 7-5 heading into their Las Vegas Bowl showdown with the Boise State Broncos in December. Oregon has bounced back nicely under first year head coach Willie Taggart after plummeting to 4-8 in Mark Helfrich’s final year in Eugene.

The Ducks are built for a great 2018 season if Taggart stays. He has been the Florida State Seminoles’ top option to replace Jimbo Fisher, who left Tallahassee for Texas A&M.

The Ducks didn’t have quite the season their fans would’ve hoped for but seven (and possibly eight) wins a year after going 4-8 is quite impressive. The Ducks probably would’ve won two more games if Herbert was healthy. Oregon lost to UCLA and could’ve put up a better fight against Washington State, Washington and Stanford who all proved they were beatable in 2017.

Here are my five takeaways from the Oregon Ducks’ 2017 regular season — its first, and hopefully not last, under Willie Taggart.
