1. Love played through injury

We all know Bryce Love was the Stanford offense and without him who knows where this season would’ve gone because of shaky quarterback play and him being such a dynamic running back. After missing the Oregon State game because of an injured ankle, he came back the following week against Washington State in a game Stanford lost 24-21. During the game, he had 16 carries for 69 yards and one touchdown.

When you dig deeper you will find out the running back hasn’t been able to practice throughout the week, but plays in the games. Love has been on fire over the last five games on one leg, showing the kind of warrior mentally that NFL general managers are drooling over. Because of this kind of extra effort, he should get strong consideration to win his first Heisman Trophy.

During the five games, Love had 102 carries for 588 yards and six touchdowns on one leg. Imagine teams knowing you are going to get the ball because you don’t have an explosive passing game and you are hurt and they still can’t stop you? That is amazing which the running back has been.

I know we have to give the offensive line props because the grown men in the trenches have to hold it down for Love to get loose, but he has been impressive, injured or not. He has a strong chance to run for 2,000 yards with the bowl game coming up and he spent almost half the season dinged up.
