The offense of Ole Miss football ran through star wide receiver A.J. Brown and senior running back Jordan Wilkins this season.

Ole Miss football had a solid season under interim head coach Matt Luke, who was hired as the full-time head coach after the regular season concluded. That success was achieved in spite of star sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson being knocked out for the season in a loss to the LSU Tigers, with a knee injury.

Sophomore wide receiver A.J. Brown was the best player on this Ole Miss offense this year. He set the single season receiving yards record for the Rebels. Considering Ole Miss does not have a chance at postseason eligibility or the SEC Championship Game, it’s striking what Brown was able to do.

In 11 games, Brown caught 75 passes for 1,252 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led all sophomores in the nation in touchdown catches and yards. Brown also finished the team in grand fashion with six catches for 167 yards and one touchdown in the Egg Bowl victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Since Brown was able to stay hot through the injury to Patterson, it’s a testament to his true talent. Brown should be a first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft as he could end up being the best receiver in school history when it’s all said and done.

Brown was surrounded by a solid receiving corps in the Ole Miss offense with players like D.K. Metcalf, DaMarkus Lodge, and Van Jefferson. However, he was the best of the bunch, with Lodge’s 698 receiving yards finishing as the next best on the team.
