Texas A&M Football: 5 best bowl games of all-time for the Aggies
While this might be the best bowl result in recent memory for the Aggies, it’s not one of the most entertaining just in general. It was a great cap to then freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel’s Heisman winning 2012 campaign.
The Oklahoma Sooners entered the game with high expectations under head coach Bob Stoops and quarterback Landry Jones. Both teams were ranked high in this game, and the winner would end up carrying some serious momentum into the 2013 season.
However, Manziel and the Aggies got the best of the Sooners’ defense, with 229 rushing yards for just the Texas A&M quarterback, and two touchdowns. Manziel would rack up four total touchdowns as the Aggies defense made life tough for Jones the entire way.
This game was actually pretty close heading into halftime, with a 14-13 lead for Texas A&M. However, 27 straight points in the second half let the Aggies run away with the victory. The Aggies have not had a season as good as the 2012 campaign capped off with a convincing Cotton Bowl win.
