During an interesting season which saw Louisville football drop from the rankings, Lamar Jackson ended up putting together a career year.

The Louisville Cardinals are exciting to watch on a weekly basis. They average 39 points per game which was tied for 12th in the nation and third in yards per game with 561. The Cardinals finished the regular season 8-4 overall and head to the TaxSlayer Bowl to play No. 23 Mississippi State on Dec. 30.

This team is very explosive in the passing and running game and it is because of one person. Drum roll, please — Lamar Jackson. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2016 and is a finalist for the award in 2017.

Not only is Jackson a finalist in the Heisman race, he won ACC Offensive and Player of the Year awards. He won both awards in 2016 also and is the first player to repeat the feat since Florida State’s Charlie Ward in 1992-93. With all the accolades that he has received this year, it is only right that Jackson is the offensive MVP for the Cardinals this season.

Have you watched them play? Jackson can do anything on the offensive side of the ball, make every throw, make plays with his feet, shake people and more he is a walking video game. Louisville isn’t that good of a team, but because of Jackson it has eight wins on the season.

What’s so impressive about Jackson this year is he almost has to play perfect for his team to win and most of the time he does.

Lamar Jackson’s stats for the 2017 season:

Jackson went 241-for-399 with 3,489 yards, 25 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 151.5 passer rating. He also had 208 rushes for 1,443 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Those numbers look like a typo and they aren’t he is actually putting up better numbers than his Heisman season and has become a better passer. How scary is that for opposing defenses? Mel Kiper and Todd McShay, please raise this young man’s ranking.
