Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma was just crowned the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner, but that just means it is time to look forward to 2018 when the newest winner of the award will be declared.

Mayfield, a three-time Top-4 finisher in the voting, was on most watch-lists heading into the season.

And the Sooner quarterback did not disappoint, leading Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff and putting together one of the most prolific passing seasons in history.

Quarterbacks have dominated the Heisman in recent years, with Mayfield, 2017 finalist and 2016 winner Lamar Jackson of Louisville, Marcu Mariota of Oregon, Jameis Winston from Florida State, Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M, Robert Griffin III from Baylor and Cam Newton of Auburn all hoisting the trophy since 2010. The lone non-quarterback to win it since Mark Ingram Jr. of Alabama in 2009 was another former Crimson Tide running back in Derrick Henry, who won it in 2015.
