R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

Troy vs. North Texas

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Date: Saturday, Dec. 16
Time: 1 p.m. ET

Troy (10-2) secured a share of the Sun-Belt title with a thrilling come from behind victory over Arkansas State in the final minute of their regular season finale. The Trojans also own a 24-21 victory over LSU at Tiger Stadium on Homecoming night.

They’ll square off with North Texas (9-4) which ended their regular season with a loss to Lane Kiffin’s FAU team in the Conference USA Championship Game. The Mean Green also fell to FAU in the regular season, but won eight straight games against opponents that weren’t the Owls.

The defense of the Trojans will be the deciding factor in this one. Troy allows just 17.5 points per game and has been particularly stringy against the run this season allowing 114.8 yards per game. For reference, that’s just two yards more than Clemson.

Prediction: Troy 30, North Texas 17
