Louisville football fans are rowdy and passionate and they are ranked No. 229 in FanSided’s Fandom 250, a ranking of the top 250 fan bases.

Louisville fans love their basketball, everyone knows that. However, this past offseason wasn’t the best for the Cardinals as the program went under an FBI investigation and saw Rick Pitino fired.

The football program has some great fans, too. Bobby Petrino took the program over for the second time in 2014 and has made the Cardinals relevant on the gridiron.

Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium has been rocking in recent years and even put up four of its top 14 all-time attendance records in 2016. Lamar Jackson has been a big reason for the boost in attendance and Petrino can be thanked for the program’s comeback as well.

Jackson even won the Heisman Trophy last year and put the program on the map. He has been one of the most exciting players in college football and why would you not want to pack the stadium to see a once-in-a-generation type of player in person?

Although Louisville finished the 2017 season 8-4, which was slightly under expectations, fans came out in droves to support the Cardinals.

This led to FanSided ranking Cardinals fans No. 229 in the Fandom 250. This is a ranking of the top 250 fan bases in sports, entertainment and everything else in between.
