Oregon football (7-5) will play this game with a new head coach. The coaching carousel that saw Jimbo Fisher leave Florida State opened up the door for the Seminoles to hire away former Oregon head coach Willie Taggart. That paved the way for Mario Cristobal to be promoted and become Oregon’s new head man.

They’ll face Group of 5 darling, Boise State (10-3). The Broncos, led by Bryan Harsin, are just as dangerous as they were during the era of Chris Petersen. This time they’ll forgo the blue turf for the green-clad field of Sam Boyd Stadium.

The last time Oregon football and Boise State met on the football field was in 2009. Boise State won, but the final score wasn’t the blow that Oregon fans remember. No, that came from Oregon’s elite rusher LeGarrette Blount. During the postgame festivities Byron Hout, a Boise State linebacker, tapped Blount on the shoulder. Blount responded with a jarring punch to his jaw that knocked Hout to the ground. Blount was suspended for the remainder of the season, ending his collegiate career.

The faces have changed, but the history remains. Both of the fanbases remember the 2009 game and each are looking to get their own form of vengeance. Here are five bold predictions for the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl between Oregon and Boise State.
